RPG of the Year – 2010

Same rules apply. I’ve cross referenced and double checked all the games on this list to confirm where and when they came out. North American release dates only and if I was unable to play the game, then I can’t count it. Again, I apologize if your favorite game didn’t make the top 5 and it could be because of what I just explained, but there are 43 games this year, so let’s hop to it!

Disgaea 2 – Cursed Memories

General Overview

Better in many ways and worse in a few others, Disgaea 2 is a great sequel that will remind you why you liked the original and keep you just as addicted. However, are those few niggling flaws enough to keep you from enjoying this one as much as the original?

Chantelise – A Tale of Two Sisters

General Overview

Much like when Nippon Ichi released Disgaea THEN La Pucelle in America, despite them coming out in reverse in Japan, Chantelise was released AFTER Recettear in America…and sadly doesn’t quite live up to the fun, strange, engrossing quirkiness of such. Even if you really, really loved Recettear, I simply cannot recommend this title.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things – Episode 7

Once again, there are some spoilers here. And yes, the pics have videos embedded, so if you spot something you’d rather not, don’t click! Today I’m mostly going to write about death, destruction, and the apocalypse. However, not all is doom and gloom. This will be one that I’m certain you’ll watch again and again. Have fun!

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things – Episode 3

You know the drill. This is not spoiler free. Some content within are MAJOR spoilers that might occur toward the end of a particular game or open it up entirely. If you see a game you’ve played, but not very much, or a game you’d be interested in playing, BACK OUT AND DON’T LOOK BACK. You’ve been warned.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things – Episode 2

Back by popular demand (and also I’m kinda bored and burnt out), here’s episode 2! Before I continue, I realized in my last one that pretty much every one of my choices went something like “Well, this happened, then something else, but I can’t tell you because spoiler actually, but it’s pretty cool, trust me.” As a result, this time there will be LOTS of spoilers…so skip ahead or avoid entirely if you’ve never heard of these titles, but would be interested in playing them, or you’ve simply never gotten to said points in the game…you’ve been warned.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things – Episode 8

So this time around I figured I’d throw in some stuff that’s actually pretty clever. Most of the time games are fairly predictable, so when one can up and surprise me, it warrants attention. It should be noted that the examples I give will almost definitely include spoilers, so just a heads up. Confused? Intrigued? Indifferent? Then read on, my friend!

Risen 2 – Dark Waters

General Overview

Is it a pirate’s life for ye? If so, ye needn’t look much further than this one. Sure, it’s got graphical glitches, the controls could be better, the voice acting is just okay, the animations are wonky at best, and the game gets borderline offensive with some stuff, but that aside it’s easily one of the best, if not THE best, pirate game ever made.

How To Not Suck At Team Fortress 2

I’m going to assume you’re reading this for one of three possible reasons. One, you’re still new to Team Fortress 2 and you’re not really sure what you’re doing, frustrated, etc. Two, you’re not new, but you could use some pointers. Or three, you just read shit I post. Honestly, this FAQ of sorts is really more for a fourth option: those that truly, utterly suck at Team Fortress 2, but blame the fuck out of everything and everyone else rather than trying to get better.

Brawler of the Year – 1995

This was a slow and therefore REALLY easy year to choose for brawlers.
