Another Game Idea – Revenge Quest

This idea is very, very, VERY rough…so I apologize in advance. This idea started with me wanting to make a Metroidvania, but have it all 8-bit and with a horror theme attached. Now, I get it, most of the new Castlevanias HAVE a horror theme, but well…there’s a little more to this. The original idea was called something along the lines of “Chainsaw Boy.”

Final Fantasy – Mystic Quest

General Overview

Being referred to in Japan as “Final Fantasy USA,” Final Fantasy Mystic Quest offers a nice, more casual challenge for a junior RPG experience. Of course, it offers a whole lot more than that as well, which is strangely overlooked and often scoffed at by various RPG veterans. Read on to find out why this game is more than mere child’s play.

RPG of the Year – 2010

Same rules apply. I’ve cross referenced and double checked all the games on this list to confirm where and when they came out. North American release dates only and if I was unable to play the game, then I can’t count it. Again, I apologize if your favorite game didn’t make the top 5 and it could be because of what I just explained, but there are 43 games this year, so let’s hop to it!

Another Game Idea – Hobo Quest

Yes, that is the current title screen

The Fantastic World of Japanese Games – Episode 3

Far too often a game simply won’t be released in America because…well, it’s predecessor failed. Now for me, this is never acceptable, but I do understand. If a game has a huge following in Japan AND it’s an RPG, but it doesn’t really take off in America, they’re more likely to continue the series in Japan, but pretty much avoid America. Today I’m going to highlight three of my favorites. Even more interestingly, the three predecessors that apparently didn’t do well are games I actually really like, too.

Backloggiversary! What The Hell Is That?

3 years ago today, I came upon a site called Backloggery. It’s a site where you can post games you’re playing, that you’ve beaten, that you own, and so on. It’s meant as a place to help motivate you into finishing everything you have as well as brag about your own personal accolades. You can even put in comments, ratings for games, make note your achievement points, and so on.

In celebration of this, I’m going to kind of pimp out what I’ve been playing in order of most frequently updated to least. And don’t forget, as I usually do, there are youtube links embedded in the pics. Enjoy!
