ActRaiser

General Overview

Usually when you throw several genres together, it just doesn’t work, especially when you’re dealing with older titles. ActRaiser is a shining example of how it CAN work, however, throwing a qualified action game very similar to that of the Castlevania games into the mix of a God sim whereupon you also level up. This is an excellent title that should appeal to action afficianados, RPG nuts, and megalomaniacs alike.

Atelier Annie – Alchemists of Sera Island

General Overview

A very odd entry in the already odd Atelier series by Gust, Atelier Annie concentrates on developing a resort with alchemy. Combat is far too simplistic, yet complicated and fairly uninspired. In fact, there are many things that Atelier Annie does wrong, though the one thing it does right will often keep you coming back: the sim aspect. It’s strange that only this one new concept helps keep things together, so it would be hard to recommend this for fans of the Atelier series.
