This year will be easy. Why? Because the only tough part about it is not highlighting certain games I know are great, but not the best. I went into this one expecting it to be as tricky as the last two years, then realized I knew exactly which 5 should be at the top within 30 seconds. There are 25 games, but you only need to remember these…

RPG of the Year – 1992
This time around I noticed there are more console titles and the SNES especially is getting a good start. Unfortunately, most of those titles don’t belong on a top 5 list. Sure, games like Mystic Quest and Soul Blazer are fun, but out of all the rest? Ha, no. Not too surprisingly, there are a lot of great PC RPGs this time around, making it pretty hard to call it in some cases. There are 22 titles this time, so let’s hop into it!

RPG of the Year – 1991
This was actually a tough year for me to choose through games. There were a lot of PC RPGs, naturally, but the problem is a lot of them, yet again, are not very easy to simply pick up and play. Most of them require thorough understanding of the manual or perhaps prior knowledge of the series in general to truly appreciate the experience.

RPG of the Year – 1990
It occurred to me while writing my article way way back about how I’ll remember Final Fantasy that it probably wasn’t fair to leave out so many great RPGs. Then I realized, if I did that, goddamn that would have been a ridiculously long article. Then again, it was already pretty long, so why not figure out which were the BEST. Yes, I realize this would be in my opinion, but at the very least I can highlight them, give a top 5 for the year, and the runner ups.

Shadowrun vs. Shadowrun vs. Shadowrun
Once again, I’m going to provide you my limited knowledge about something purely from a videogame angle. I may miss a few things, and if I do, definitely feel free to leave feedback calling me a retard. Just sayin’. Anyhow, the Shadowrun series is definitely an interesting one, at least in VG format. It originally started as a pen and paper RPG and that’s really all I know about its backhistory.

Strider vs. Strider vs. Strider
When most people think Strider Hiryu, they think Marvel vs. Capcom, but they don’t often know what Strider is besides just “that one ninja looking guy.” Fortunately, I’m here to provide you my robust, yet still limited knowledge. What I will say is, regardless of whether or not Wiki can corroborate what I’m saying, is that effectively Strider is a futuristic space ninja complete with all kinds of cool gymnastic flippy jumps, an awesome sword, robot familiars, and has the ability to basically scale any surface.

Sonic the Hedgehog – Is It Too Late?
Growing up, I owned an NES. While the Sega Genesis was a marvelous thing, I still loved my NES. Every so often, we would be treated to renting a Genesis and a few games. My good friend across the street also owned a Genesis. Until I got into emulation, this was the extent of my Genesis knowledge. Sure, I got to play a few things like the oldschool Sonic titles, Golden Axe 2, and even Phantasy Star 4, but for the most part I really missed out when the Genesis was still ongoing.
