Sequels I Would Love To See

Sometimes you play the fuck the out of a game to the point that there’s literally nothing else, you’re left still wanting more. Sadly, if there was more, it probably wouldn’t be as good, maybe some tacked on at the last minute DLC or whatever, but what about a sequel? Ahhh, but only if it could be as good as the original, right? Well, how about…

RPG of the Year – 2011

I was hoping this year would be a little more eventful and tough to pick a top 5, but it really isn’t. Sure, the top 5 are EXCELLENT and there are a few good runner ups, but there are also a lot of terrible MMOs and poorly thought out mobile games. There are 81 games in total, but you probably already know what’s going on the top 5.

The Great Steam Roundup – Episode 14

So this time I figured I’d do something a little different. It’s summer time and that means massive Steam sales ahoy! Of course, I really haven’t gotten that much as I’ve been pretty strapped this summer, but it does mean that I’ve gotten at least SOMETHING, although some of that something isn’t that great. So today, I’m providing these in order of worst to best.

Top 5 GTA Clones

When people say GTA clone, it gets tired and old. Calling something a clone of something else makes you seem incredibly lazy as it’s merely a way of waving off any sort of merit the game might have otherwise that either sets it apart or makes it 10 times stronger than GTA3 (the one they’re usually referencing) and somehow allows them to dismiss the game entirely.

The sad fact is these same people would be missing out on otherwise incredible titles that, GTA or not, warrant your undivided attention. Titles such as…

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things – Episode 10

Been a while since I’d done one of these, so I figured I’d take another crack at it. There’s no real relation between these and while there are spoilers, I don’t think it’s anything we haven’t seen already as the gamer populace, so no worries there. Ultimately, these are things that make you laugh, smile, or in general just plain enjoy when a design studio comes together to create something wonderful.

My Thoughts on Earthbound

Earthbound. A game that for many is a fond, but distant memory. A game that did so much and (used to) receive so little recognition. A game that upon a distant glance doesn’t look like its anything special, but provides a fun, deep, and rewarding experience. Earthbound is one of the best SNES RPGs in existence, providing a quirky, surreal experience to all who would frequent it.

The Great Steam Roundup – Episode 9

Nope. No true correlation between each title. Each one was picked up for a different reason, each one is very different, and each one is definitely recommendable…to the right person. I’ll provide a few more details on this, but for now just keep in mind that these have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Yay, intro’s over!

Torchlight 2

General Overview

I’ve been wanting to review this one for a while, but never felt like I had enough content to do so. I’ve beaten the game…and I still feel this way. If anything, this speaks volumes about the magnitude of ridiculous content stuffed into this package. If you enjoyed anything at all about the original Torchlight or any Diablo or Diablo-like game, why you haven’t picked this up already is beyond me.

Borderlands 2

General Overview

If you’re wondering whether or not you should buy Borderlands 2, possibly worrying that it will just be the original but with different quests or something, you need to quit being a pussy and just buy it. If you haven’t PLAYED the original Borderlands, I’m ashamed to share the same planet as you.

Manhunt 2

General Overview

Gore, violence, death, destruction, mayhem, murder, and plenty of other stuff you’d expect from just about any Rockstar game included all in one little package. Manhunt 2 gives us more, more, more…though it does end up a bit censored and kinda silly by the end of it. All the same, if you’re a fan of the original, it’s definitely worth checking out.
